Stream 2B – large scale
Stream 2B of the Low Carbon Buildings Programme was aimed at large scale new build and major refurbishment projects. Public sector organisations, businesses, SMEs and community groups were all eligible to apply for a grant of up to £1m or 40% (50% for SMEs) of the eligible costs of installing the following microgeneration technologies;
- Solar photovoltaics (PV)
- Wind turbines
- Small scale hydro
- Solar thermal hot water
- Ground/water/air source heat pumps
- Wood fuelled heating (principally wood fuelled heating (biomass) fired boilers with or without CHP but not including wood fuelled by municipal solid waste or CHP fired using natural gas
As with the householder stream certified installers and products must be used. However, due to the size of some of the products to be installed they were not always within the scope of the MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) and alternative certification routes were used.
Grants for this funding stream were awarded through a two stage process and support has been provided to grant applicants by the Carbon Trust throughout the process.
Grants were available for projects across the UK, excluding the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
Please note this stream is now closed for new applications.
